Another Eventful Weekend!

I was able to borrow a fancy digital camera from school this weekend. Good thing too because we had a lot going on. Thought I’d share a few of the shots for anyone who would like to “sneak a peak” into a moment of my life.

Ben's 29th Birthday at Green Field

Kerry Lee's Arts and Crafts Class

A Face Only a Mother Could Love!

The past few mornings when I've woken up, it's been to my little Otis snoring right by my face. I open my eyes to this squishy little black face on the edge of my pillow. It's so dang cute and better then any alarm I've ever heard or seen. This morning I was able to sneak out of bed and grab my camera so I could get this shot.
Too Cute!

Happy Birthday Honey Poo!

Today was my sweet hubbie's 29th birthday! He had clinicals at San Antonio Hospital and he spent the whole morning and afternoon, sticking probes and cameras, up peoples bums. I tried to make it a little more special for him but it wasn't the easiest thing to do since I had to work and he had clinicals. We did both get off early so we could go out to dinner. The night didn't turn out all that special, but we did still have fun and enjoyed each others company.

Ben had joined the Stewart Anderson's Birthday Club so he got a free steak dinner and a free birthday brownie. It was quite interesting. His steak was more fat and grissel then it was steak and the brownie was seriously hard as a rock.

Well since that dessert didn't work out so well, we decided to get Ben's favorite dessert, a Kahlúa Cream Cheese Pie at Marie Callendars, and take it over to mom's and share with the family. Well Marie was out of at least half of their pies, Kahlúa Cream Cheese Pie included. My poor husbands face was so sad when the gal told us they were out. So then we decided to go over to Coldstone to get an Ice Cream Cake. He found a Peanut Butter Chocolate one and we went to go pay for it and found out that this tiny little cake (6 servings) was $25! He felt that it was not worth it so we decided to just go to a grocery store and pick out a dessert from the bakery. We headed off to the 99 Ranch Market (Asian grocery store) were we finally scored! We bought 5 little single serve cakes and some yummie Mochi Balls (balls of ice cream covered with rice cake-another favorite of the birthday boy) and headed off to mom's where we had a good time celebrating over dessert.
So all in all the night turned out just fine.

When we were at dinner I asked Ben a few things about his birthday:

Me: What is your favorite thing about birthdays?
Ben: PRESENTS!

Me: What is your least favorite thing about birthdays?
Ben: The Birthday Song. It's so slow and depressing and you just sit there and smile
uncomfortably till the song is over.

Me: What do you really want for your birthday this year?
Ben: A flame thrower

Me: What do you not want for your birthday?
Ben: Clothes

Me: How do you feel turning 29?
Ben: Not good!

Ben's 2008 Birthday List:
-The Weed Dragon, Propane Tank Flame Thrower
-Cheap White T-Shirts for Work
-Lowe's Gift Card (to build my shed)
-Camping Trip to San Onofre Surf Beach (2 nights)
-Dinner at Greenfield Brazilian BBQ

What He Actually Got: (so far)
-A Hand Blender (to make milkshakes)
-A Cell Phone (Ben is anti-cell phone. Knowing this, for some reason I thought this would be a good idea for emergency's...After seeing his face when he opened it (very similar to his face when the gal at Marie Callendars said they were out of Kahlúa Cream Cheese Pie) I'm sending it back and getting him the Flame Thrower.)
-Dinner Party at Greenfields on Saturday (he'll get the rest of his presents there)

There are actually several places that have Birthday Clubs. This year I had signed up Ben for quite a few online. We got coupons for a ton of free stuff. Here is a list of the places that have Birthday Clubs:
Baskin Robbins (free scoop)
Coldstone (free ice cream w/a mix in)
Red Robin (free burger)
Stewart Andersons (free steak dinner)
Hometown Buffet (free adult buffet)
Denny's (free dessert)
Marie Callendar's (free pie)
Macaroni Grill (free appitizer)

Happy Mother's Day Everyone!

First of all I just wanted to wish all you wonderful mother's out there,

Happy Mother's Day!

Secondly I wanted to answer everyones question. No, I'm not pregnant. I know it's a bummer but round two will be a lot of fun! and hopefully a lot less stressful. This has been a crazy month! The whole thing with the stress and anxiety of "Am I pregnant or am I not!" also I had a couple of absolutely crazy and random things happened at work. I don't like drama. I am so happy with my life without it. So when people try to start drama I get all bent out of shape. I don't feel like explaining right now so maybe at another blog.

Anywho! back to the pregnancy thing. Man that was one wild roller coaster of emotions for me. Right after ovulation I was feeling like I was totally prego. I gained 5 lbs. (not good when you're already way overweight), I have discomfort in the lower abdomen, I'm always hungry, I'm feeling extra bloated, I didn't have a migraine, I am really moody and my boobs were killing me. These were all symptoms that I never have. So everyone was telling me "I think you're pregnant". Then my cycle which is always 28-29 days (except March 2007-I was sick and it lasted 32 days) was totally off. When I didn't get my period at 29 days, I was a little excited but also a bit weary. Then at 30 days I was more excited, 31 days I felt pretty confident. Ben and i were figuring out how we would tell everyone and getting really excited. So we decided to do a HPT on the morning of day 32. Last night I had this wonderful dream that I took the test and that there were 2 little pink lines and that Ben and I were both so excited and crying. So when I woke up this morning (day 32), I confidently set up the HPT with my hubby by my side and we waited for the results which turned out to be just one little pink line. I was upset. What the H E double hockey stick! In my dream it was 2 lines! So I went and grabbed another test (I stocked up on them from the 99 cent store) and again it was NEGATIVO! Bummed and annoyed that I hadn't started my cycle yet (after 32 stressful days) and that the test were negative, we went on to start are day. Then this afternoon I started my next cycle. I should have just waited another day. I could have saved 2 bucks!

So I'm kind of bummed and confused of why my cycle took so long. I guess this next month we will need to relax more and have more fun. I think because we've waited so long that we are just crazy anxious for it to happen.

I know it will and I'm just grateful that I have such a wonderful and supportive hubby!

This is a really beautiful little poem that my Callie Mama has cross stiched that I thought would be very appropriate for this Mother's Day.

"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait til tomorrow.
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs.
Dust, go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep".

And while looking online for a cute little Mother's Day picture for my blog I came across this and thought it was hilarious!

Peanut Butter Pie!

Yummie!!! This recipe is my Mama's yum yum yummie Peanut Butter Pie. Last week after our anniversary Temple visit, we went to mom and Ron's to go into the spa. Ben found out that there was some Peanut Butter Pie in the freezer and we shared the rest of it with Isaiah. Ever since last Saturday he's been asking me to make it so I finally did tonight. It's usually a family birthday request and it goes really fast so I'd suggest to make two. Another suggestion, make sure you serve with a cold glass of milk. You'll need it!

Ingredients:
1 deep dish, baked and cooled, pie crust
12oz tub of Cool Whip
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup Skippy Super Chunky Peanut Butter
1 jar fudge sundae topping

Directions:
Mix Cool Whip, sugar and peanut butter in a large bowl. Spoon into the baked and cooled pie crust and spread evenly. Freeze for 2 hours. Spread fudge sundae topping onto frozen pie. Refreeze until ready to serve.

This recipe makes exactly enough filling for 1 deep dish pie crust and a little more to taste if your impatient like me.

Trust me! You'll wish you made 2.
